Jakarta, March 27 2024 – In the wake of B Corp Month last March, Gree Energy celebrates its role in the global sustainability drive, emphasizing our unwavering commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Joining over 5,000 B Corp certified companies worldwide, including 20 in Indonesia, we continue to lead the charge towards a more sustainable future.

Why B Corp Matters?

B Corps are businesses that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability set by B Lab. It’s more than just a certification; it’s a commitment to using business as a force for good and creating positive impact beyond profit. B Corp certification holds us accountable and helps us identify areas for improvement. It connects us with a global network of like-minded businesses striving to make a difference. Most importantly, it reassures our customers that we’re dedicated to social and environmental responsibility.

Our Impactful Journey

Our journey to becoming a certified B Corp wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. We’ve demonstrated high performance across governance, workers, community, environment, and customers, aligning our operations with our values. Guided by B Market Builder Southeast Asia (BMB SEA), we underwent comprehensive assessments to demonstrate our commitment to social, environmental, and governance best practices. At Gree Energy, we understand the importance of engaging stakeholders to drive meaningful change. From workers and communities to customers and shareholders, we prioritize the well-being of all stakeholders in our operations. Gree Energy empowers the food industry in emerging countries by cutting methane emissions, treating wastewater, and creating opportunities for clean and renewable energy in underserved rural communities. By unlocking the full potential of biogas projects, we aim to contribute significantly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Our initiatives include reducing 3 million tons of CO2eq per year, treating 30 million people’s domestic waste equivalent annually, and generating 1TWh/year of electricity.

To celebrate B Corp Month, Gree Energy hosted its inaugural GreeN Day event. This event served as a platform to engage employees in meaningful discussions about environmental and social issues. Led by our CEO and founder, Nicolas Stirer, the event featured comprehensive training sessions focusing on our environmental and social initiatives, as well as diversity issues.

But GreeN Day wasn’t just about training; it was about fostering collaboration and engagement among our team members. We actively encouraged employees to share their stories about Gree’s sustainability efforts on digital platforms like LinkedIn. By amplifying these voices, we not only showcased our commitment to transparency but also inspired others to join us on our sustainability journey.

Moving Forward Together

While achieving B Corp certification is a significant accomplishment, our journey toward creating a more sustainable future is far from over. We remain committed to continuous improvement and have set ambitious goals to further combating climate change by treating waste water from the Agri-food industry.

Our B Corp certification serves as a testament to our ongoing efforts to drive positive change and create a more sustainable future for all. As we navigate towards a regenerative future, collaboration is key. We’re grateful to be part of the B Corp community and look forward to working alongside other businesses, sharing knowledge, and learning from each other.

Happy B Corp Month from all of us at Gree Energy!
